My Logo Design Process

Logo design for Coffe Amor

Hello! Today I thought I’d share a peek into my logo design process. That way, if we end up working together you have a better idea of what to expect. The steps below follow up the logo design portion of my Business Branding Kit.

1. Identify Your Audience and Business goals

Before I start any part of the design process, it’s important for me to understand what your goals for the logo are. I’ll ask detailed questions about your business, target customers, and do research on the logos of other similar businesses in your industry. That way your logo will standout against competitors without looking out of place in your industry.

2. Plan out the brand “look”

Once I have a direction for your logo, I will also begin to think through other elements of your brand design. This might include some preliminary colors and typeface choices as well as stylistic influences.

If you’ve put together a Pinterest board with inspiration for me, this is where I’ll incorporate your ideas into the development of your logo.

3. Sketch logo concepts

This is my favorite part of the design process! I begin sketching out different ideas for your logo and exploring different directions.

4. Create variations for different uses

Once I have an idea of where the logo is going, I begin to make sure it works in several different variations. This usually includes a stacked vertical option, a horizontal option, and a white version that can used on dark backgrounds.

5. Receive feedback & revise

Now it’s time for your feedback! I present all of the logos as well as any design choices behind them, and we will work together to make sure that you’re happy with the final product.

6. Deliver Final files

The last step is launching your beautiful logo into the world! You will receive final files formatted for the web and print. Confused about the difference? Don’t worry, I also include a guide that breaks down file types and helps you know which to use depending on how you’re using the file.

See the logo design process doesn’t have to be scary or intimidating! If you’re interested in working together, you can contact me here and set up a discovery call.
